Marita Singh, who was born and raised in Bielefeld, paints using various techniques, such as watercolor, colored pencil, and—her preferred medium—oil on canvas. For many years, the main subjects of her painting—which is not exclusively representational—have been landscapes and still lifes.
The artist always has a personal connection to the places she depicts. Many of her paintings were created during study trips around the globe.
Bizarre rock formations, desert scenes, cypress trees, seemingly endless hilly landscapes, idyllic Mediterranean courtyards and alleyways, as well as flowers and imagined minerals.
The sky also reveals a great deal about the atmosphere of the depicted location and is an essential element. When viewing the works, one can literally sense the approaching thunderstorm or the wind driving the clouds forward with tremendous force, or the sun caressing the plants and bringing out the green in the leaves.
The painter Marita Singh has already presented her works in solo and group exhibitions. She completed studio studies with the renowned and influential painter Heiner Meyer and also with the landscape painter Werner Neck.
